Through a series of meetings and workshops our congregation has
discerned that our Core Values are:
acceptance ~ family ~
growth/outreach ~ spirituality
~ children ~ caring
~ celebration

We continue to work toward discerning who we are as a called out
community of faith and what our mission should be - but in the
meantime, as we pray and listen, we are moving forward with these words
of purpose to guide us:
Loving God and Loving People

The concept of a United Church in New Minas was started in January
1985, when a committee was formed to begin planning for a congregation.
In May 1986, a minister was called to help organize the new
congregation. That September, Sunday worship began at the New Minas
Civic Centre. Two months later, in Novermber 1986, the congregation was
constituted
with 58 charter members. The present property for the church was
purchased in September 1987 and New Minas United Church opened its
doors in February 1988.
The building is a cement block and wood structure measuring 50' x 75' situated on a 3 1/2 acre lot located on Cornwallis Avenue. This is mainly a residential area. A new extension to the church was added in 2003 creating new office space, meeting rooms, a cloak room and a wheelchair accessible washroom.
The
sanctuary uses chair seating and can accomodate up to 200 people. It is
also a multi-purpose room where suppers, teas, vacation bible school,
and other activities are held. Our worship is supported by a Roland
electric piano/organ and occasionally by guitar. Even though we are a
small congregation with approximately 80 in worship each week we offer
a wide variety of activities, programs, and (of course) committees that
folks are encouraged to participate in. We'd love to have you drop by
for a visit!
